But we didn't.
We actually had a family day.
After a year of the "accelerated not abbreviated" nursing school program and a summer of the Mr. working like a mad man to finish his project at work and then me starting a new job...well...let's just say it's been awhile since we've had a family fun day. So when soccer ended and I looked at the calendar and saw NOTHING on a Saturday, I told the family we were going on a field trip and attendance was mandatory.
I also told them good attitudes were mandatory. It worked. Mostly.
We started off with a corn maze. You can't really go wrong with a long walk surrounded by corn and 9 people arguing over which direction to go all while trying to find clues to beat the corn maze game, right?
This was at the beginning.
This was the middle.
This was the "Mom we give up can we just cut through the corn stalks and walk up the road that we see right over there" point.
The good news is, we found the exit. All 9 of us.
After the maze we ventured over to the game section. At first, the big kids stood back while the little ones played. Eventually, that changed.
And we could hardly pull them away.
And they kept playing.
I love this picture! My kids kind of sort of took over the big bouncy thing.
And the wild barrel train ride. What you're missing is the next picture where they are ALL riding the train with their hands up like a roller coaster. Crazies.
Snow cones on a 50* day.
Not sure what's going on here but, it's pretty typical.
And the other side of the wagon riding to the punchin' patch.
We were all starting to get a bit hangry by the end of our trip so we loaded up and went out to dinner. My heart was full. My hope was that ALL my kids would have fun playing and enjoying each other's company and they did. Couldn't ask for more than that.
